B.R.C.A. HOT RODS CONSTRUCTION RULES 2004.
1 Cars to be 1/12th scale Mardave V12 series chassis with any commercially available body shell
2 Any make of servo saver may be used on steering servo.
3 Any make of track rod ends may be used.
4 The tyres may be changed from original kit tyres.
5 ABS bodyshells are allowed, all widows must be cut out. Polycarbonate body shells are allowed, windows must remain clear, not tinted or maybe cut out.
6 Ballraces allowed on rear axle only. Rear axle and spur gear must remain as kit.
7 Chassis and front and rear wheel carriers and suspension springs to be as kit. Countersink screws must not be used on the underside of chassis.
8 Any commercially available speed controller may be used, must have reverse fitted and working. Mechanical to have a maximum retail price of £30-00. Electronic £60-00 Receiver battery packs allowed.
9 Only nine extra holes ( max. 3mm) may be drilled in chassis, two holes must be used for mounting the steering servo, two holes to be used for mounting the on/of switch, one hole to mount the aerial tube,and a max of four holes for alternative battery mounting, if any of these items are not used, then the holes must not be drilled. Any holes drilled and not used must be filled. Chassis top mounting plate may be changed, altered or removed.
10 The motor may be fitted either side of the chassis, providing that there is no modification or alteration to the chassis or mounting blocks.
11 External front and rear bumpers are not allowed.
12 Min. 20mm. Max. 26mm width of tyres and a min. 4 8mm and max. 60 mm diameter of tyres. Any foam tyre compound allowed.
13 Cars to use 4 cells only. Cells to be sub-C sized cells only, with a nominal voltage of 1.2 volts per cell, cells to be NiCad and Nimahs. cells to be readily identifiable. Battery mountings may be changed from original.
14 Motors must be standard Mabuchi RS540SH or the v14 only and must remain unopened. External motor bearings or fine pitch gears are not allowed.
15 Steel whip aerials and rollover masts are not allowed, and aerials must remain inside the bodyshells.
16 At BRCA events drivers name and BRCA number must be clearly displayed at the top of the front windscreen, not less than 5 mm high.
17 At BRCA events the drivers roof grade colour (if known) must be on the roof of the car either painted or using tape. The colour must cover all of the roof top.
18 Aerofoils are allowed but be commercially available.
19 Alternative motor pinions may be used, providing no alteration is made to the motor mounting blocks. Motor fluid and additives are allowed, No tyre additives of any type allowed.
20 If you intend to alter your car in any way that is not covered by the above, you must check with the v12 Hotrod scrutineer for approval. We expect all drivers to use common sense when modifying cars and to enter into the spirit of the sport.
21 There must be a minimum ground clearance of 3mm: This is to include any protruding screws, 1mm clearance for spur gear.
HOTROD RACING RULES 2004.
1 All open and national meetings to be run on carpet. No additives allowed. All open and national meetings will have A to Z finals. Race format to be 4 qualifying heats and finals by FTQ to be of 5 minute duration. Except in the case of a large entry when races may be reduced to 4 minutes duration. Heats to be shuffled each round and where possible a reasonable cross-section of roof grades are to be in each heat.
2 Races will start in graded order, commencing with white tops on the start line, yellow tops a quarter lap behind blue tops a further quarter lap down etc. Finals will start in qualifying order. The race format is maximum eight cars in a final. Finals will be run in qualifying order, i.e. first eight on the A final next eight in the B final and so on. Minimum five maximum nine cars in any one race. This applies at organizational stage only. In the event of a tie at any national meeting, it will be decided on a drivers previous lap scores, including split times, starting with the highest then the next highest etc. If still undecided then a run of will take place
3 The National Champion for all classes will have a Gold roof, The British Open Champion will have a Silver roof, and if the same driver wins both events, that driver will have a Gold and Silver striped roof.The European Champion will have a Red/Yellow chequered roof and cannot be graded lower than Red for two years. All club champions and national winners to be graded as superstars for the following race season. Only novices may be graded as white tops. No driver may be down graded to white top. Any national champion may not be graded lower than red grade within a five year period of that drivers last championship. National grading will apply to all racers except those who have never raced at a national before who will be allowed to start at their club grade. If they are members of two or more clubs they shall run under their highest grading. Any driver may not, through lack of attendance of less than one year, drop more than two grades below their last grading.
4 Mini stox, saloonstox and hotrods will race clockwise on an oval
5 Practice sessions may be run, but different classes must run separately. A frequency peg board shall be used at all times.
6 At national meetings there may be concourse competition; any bodies entered must be run for the duration of the event as scrutineered. Judging to be nominated person/ persons
7 National dates to be finalised by the 1st March.
8 Trophies to be given out as soon as possible, to allow people who have traveled a long way to start their journeys earlier. Trophies to be awarded as follows:- All finalists and the first place in all other final, clubs may give additional trophies.
