![]() B.R.C.A. 1/12th BANGER CONSTRUCTION RULES 2004.
1 Use the Hot Rod (V12) chassis or Mini or Rebel , as supplied in the kit; alternatively one made from GRP (Max. 2 mm thickness) may be used. Dimensions are, maximum length 270 mm, width 90 mm, no additional strengthening allowed.
2 Only V12, Mini, Rebel parts may be used in construction exceptions are:
a) Track rods and servo savers maybe upgraded.
b) Pinion/Spur gears to be 32 dp.
c) Ball Races may be fitted to rear axle assembly only.
d) Electronic Speed controllers are not permitted, any manual speedboard operated by a wiper arm can be used.
e) Tyres, only foam type may be used.
3 Cells, only 4-cell sub C rated cells
4 Body shells
a) Body Shells to be of ABS molding. Windows must be completely removed as per the original car.
b) Example of body shells that could be used: Rolls Royce, Wolseley 6/110, Wolseley 15/50, Wolseley Hearse, MG Magnet, Austin A60, Rover P5, Granada Coupe, Jaguar, Oldsmobile, Magnum, Daimler Majestic, Ford Granada, Ford Capri. (This is not an exhaustive list, a full list will be approved at the 2003 AGM).
c) Roof fins may be fitted, no further forward than the middle of the roof, no more than 2 fins allowed plastic only. Fins to no more than 1” high x 1” wide, no metal fins allowed, they must not possess any sharp edges, and must have the drivers racing number on both sides of the fin. No wings or aerofoils allowed.
d) Strengthening & Repairs are allowed, you may use glue sticks, tape, cable ties, joining plates may be used (metal plates not allowed) in conjunction with nuts and bolts, no screws allowed. All sharp edges must be filed, and any protrusions must be on inside of the body shell.
e) Name and Number of the driver must be clearly visible on both sides of the body shell at all times.
f) Body shell preparation should be neatly presented, no unsightly rude or offensive slogans, gestures are allowed.
g) Body mounts - you may use 3 or 4 mounts, made from plastic no more than 10 mm in diameter and must not protrude more than 10 mm through the body shell. All body clips must be flush with the body shell, there must be at least 1 cm (10 mm) clearance between shell and chassis front and rear of the car.
h) Roof grade markings must cover the whole of the roof area.
5 No internal or external bumpers are allowed.
6 No additional ballast allowed on the car.
7 Transponder must be fixed onto the car and not the body shell.
8 Additives - only motor cleaning fluids is allowed. Under no circumstances are tyre additives allowed (instant disqualification for one calendar year if found to be using any).
9 Motors to be used as per Stockcar Class.
10 Limos - Maximum width 90 mm, length to suit body shell providing the chassis does not protrude beyond the wheels. All other rules apply the same.
Warning, if it's not in the rules then it is not legal, always check with Race Directory before you do it.
B.R.C.A. 1/12th BANGER RACE RULES 2004.
1 Only one car may be entered per person per meeting, no swapping or using of other peoples cars to be allowed. Only one body shell per car per meeting to be used. Drivers name and number must be on body shell at all times, no sharing of body shell's allowed, however a different body shell may be used in DD's and must still comply with all rules.
2 Racing will be in a clockwise direction when the construction of the track allows. No waiting or playing dead to take cars out of a race, racing in one direction only (except for DD's), ramp racing at the discretion of track promoter. Cars must be moving at all times, unless on side or roof etc. Each race to be 5 minutes in duration, unless otherwise stated at the being of the meeting, (as per normal section rules).
3 All cars must line up in graded order, white, yellow, blue, red, star's, champions. Cars to line up two abreast on starting positions, (except DD's).
4 Any car losing a wheel or tyre or wheel assembly, must be removed from the track immediately, failure to do so will result in the loss of that score, do not wait to be told to do it, as damage to the carpet will not be tolerated.
5 Marshaling
a) Under normal racing conditions no cars are to be marshaled by anyone, exceptions are:- removal by the driver (not to be returned to the track); if a car is at risk of burning out (not to be returned to the track); if cells/batteries, radio equipment or transponder has detached from the car or lying on the track, cars must be removed from the track and not returned.
b) If a car is deemed to be out of control i.e. no radio signal then it is to be removed as soon as possible and not returned.
c) If a car goes over the outside barrier of the track, it may not be returned to the track but may still enter remaining races that they are eligible to race in,
d) Failure to comply will result in immediate disqualification.
6 Infields of all tracks - Cars must be able to return to the track under their own control.
If cars are rolled on to the roof or side then they must remain there for the remainder of the race.
7 Protests of any kind, made to the race director to be in a civilized manner, within a reasonable time of the results being printed and displayed. The race director may correct any discrepancies that arise. Race director's decision is final at all times.
8 Penalties.
a) Any one caught cheating will be instantly disqualified from the meeting, and no moneys will be refunded.
b) Deliberate driving wrong way round the track (except DD) first offense verbal warning, re offend and car will be removed from track.
c) Unnecessary shouting at anyone, or threatening and bad behavior, by driver or any pit crew, first offense verbal warning; re offending will occur the penalty of -25 laps from qualifying lap score i.e. best three scores added together -25, if a reoccurrence should arise disqualification from the meeting will apply, and no moneys will be refunded.
d) Any person told to remove their car from the track by a race official , and does not do so will lose that race score.
9 Cars must comply with scrutineering before and after a race (where appropriate) if failed by the Scrutineer the car concerned must be repaired/made legal to the satisfaction of the Scrutineer, before it is allowed to race again.
10 Points Scoring - If 8 cars in a heat then 10 points for a win and 9 points for second etc. DD winner scores 1 point. Best three scores from four in the heats, top ten into the final.
11 Race Directory's decision is final.

2. ONLY STRETCH LIMO ALLOWED TO USE GRP CHASSIS THE SAME WIDTH AS V12
3. TRACK RODS MAY BE UPGRADED

5. NO TAPE OR FENDER MENDER OR REINFORCING OF SHELLS.
6. SHELLS TO BE POST MOUNTED WITH 1 CM CLEARANCE BACK AND FRONT.
7. WINDOWS TO BE CUT OUT AS PER FULL SIZE ROAD CAR.
8. MOTOR AS PER B.R.C.A. APPROVED LIST.
9. ONLY MANUAL SPEED CONTROLLERS NO ESC.
10. NO DELIBERATE RAMMING OF DEAD CARS.
11. CARS ON FIRE OR IN A DANGEROUS STATE CAN BE LIFTED. LIFTING OF CARS IS NO POINTS SCORE FOR THAT RACE. LIFT YOU DON'T SCORE.
12. DD FIRST LAP MUST BE DONE IN A CLOCK WISE DIRECTION.
13. ALL DRIVERS TO ENTER INTO THE SPIRIT OF BANGER RACING (GOOD FUN).
14. DELIBERATE RAMMING OF A CAR (2/3 TIMES) WILL RESULT IN YOU BEING REMOVED FOR THE NIGHTS RACING FORTHWITH AS PER RACE CONTROL.
15. FOUR CELLS ONLY.
16. NO MOTOR DROPS OR TYRE ADDITIVES ALLOWED.
17. NO FOUL LANGUAGE TO BE SIGN WRITTEN ON CARS.
18. ALL TRANSPONDERS TO BE MOUNTED TO CHASSIS IE NOT THROUGH SHELL (TO AVOID DAMAGE TO TRANSPONDERS).
19. DRIVERS NAME AND B.R.C.A. NUMBER TO BE ON THE FRONT OF CAR.
20. ALL BANGER NUMBERS TO START WITH PREFIX OF 9 (IE 933/966/907/927).
21. SHELLS MAY BE REPAIRED WITH A SOLDERING IRON.
